Looking for the best parcel locker services in Latvia? Compare Omniva, Latvijas Pasts, DPD Latvija, Venipak, SmartPosti and Unisend in our 2026 guide. Discover how their networks, delivery prices, collection rules and international shipping services differ, and find the most convenient option for your next parcel.
In July 2026, a small village called Ance in western Latvia welcomed something residents had been asking for: an Omniva parcel locker. What made it different was its ability to operate without a permanent electricity or internet connection, allowing people in a smaller community to send and receive packages without travelling to a larger town.
It’s a small example of a much bigger change happening across Latvia. Parcel lockers have become part of everyday life, with people collecting online orders, sending second-hand clothing, returning purchases and delivering gifts without waiting at home for a courier.
According to Latvia’s Public Utilities Commission (SPRK), 1,893 parcel lockers were operating across the country at the end of the second quarter of 2026, and 67% of delivered shipments were collected through lockers. That’s a lot of packages moving through those colourful metal compartments outside supermarkets, shopping centres and petrol stations.
But with six major parcel locker providers in Latvia — Omniva, Latvijas Pasts, DPD Latvija, Venipak Latvija, SmartPosti and Unisend — choosing the right service isn’t always straightforward. Each offers different locations, prices, collection periods and international delivery options, so let’s compare what they actually provide.
A few years ago, receiving a parcel often meant arranging a courier delivery or visiting a post office during working hours. Today, many people prefer collecting packages while doing their grocery shopping, commuting home or running errands.
The numbers show just how quickly this habit has grown. In 2025, postal operators in Latvia handled 35.8 million parcels, an increase of 14% compared with 2024, while 19.9 million delivered shipments were collected through parcel lockers.
By the end of 2025, Latvia already had 1,869 parcel lockers. Six months later, that number had increased to 1,893, according to SPRK figures.
International online shopping has helped fuel this growth. During the second quarter of 2026, approximately 65% of parcels handled by Latvian operators were cross-border shipments, either arriving from abroad or travelling to other countries.
For shoppers, the appeal is simple: flexibility and convenience. For online businesses, parcel lockers can provide an efficient delivery option without requiring every customer to be at home when a courier arrives.
Omniva is probably one of the first names that comes to mind when thinking about parcel delivery in Latvia. Its recognisable orange lockers are found throughout Riga, regional cities and smaller towns, making it a familiar option for both sending and receiving packages.
Omniva also leads the Latvian locker delivery market by shipment volume. According to SPRK, the company handled 43% of all parcels delivered through parcel lockers in Latvia during 2025.
Customers can register shipments online, track packages and send parcels between Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. The company also offers courier delivery and international shipping services, making it useful for individuals and businesses.
One important detail has changed recently. Since May 1, 2026, Omniva’s standard parcel storage period has been reduced from seven days to four days, although customers can request extensions through self-service.
Omniva is also expanding into rural communities with compact parcel lockers. Speaking about the new locker in Ance, company representative said:
The story of Ance showed us just how important this service is to local people
Jānis Andžāns
Best suited for: Frequent parcel users, domestic shipments, Baltic deliveries and customers who want access to a widely used locker network.
Latvijas Pasts has changed considerably from the traditional postal service many people remember. Alongside its post offices and courier services, it now operates an extensive network of blue parcel lockers throughout Latvia.
At the end of 2025, Latvijas Pasts had 440 parcel lockers, giving it the largest individual locker network among the country’s six main operators. Its combination of automated lockers, postal facilities and customer service centres provides different options for sending and receiving shipments.
The company also offers competitive domestic shipping prices. According to its published tariff list, locker-to-locker deliveries within Latvia cost:
These prices are taken from the company’s published consumer tariffs and may change. Latvijas Pasts also offers next-business-day delivery on eligible routes and parcel storage of up to seven days.
Another advantage is its support for different delivery methods. Customers can arrange courier collection, send packages from lockers or choose delivery to a customer service centre, depending on the shipment.
Best suited for: Affordable domestic parcel deliveries, customers who need several shipping options and people who already use Latvijas Pasts services.
DPD Latvija is another established name in Latvia’s delivery market. Its Pickup network is widely used by online shops and customers who want convenient parcel collection without arranging a home delivery.
According to DPD’s official website, the company provides access to more than 370 parcel lockers in Latvia. Its wider European network includes approximately 100,000 Pickup locations, although these include staffed collection points as well as automated lockers.
That international reach is one of DPD’s strengths. Customers can arrange deliveries to numerous European destinations, making it particularly useful for people who regularly send packages outside Latvia.
Domestic prices are also fairly straightforward. An XS parcel sent within Latvia costs €2.48 when registered through DPD’s online self-service portal, compared with €2.69 when the shipping label is created directly at a locker.
The difference may seem small, but it illustrates why checking online prices before sending a parcel can be worthwhile. Businesses shipping large numbers of parcels should also compare available contract rates rather than relying only on standard consumer prices.
Best suited for: European deliveries, online shopping returns, regular parcel senders and e-commerce businesses.
Venipak has built its services around a combination of parcel lockers, couriers, collection points and business logistics. This makes it useful for customers who want more than a basic locker-to-locker delivery service.
The company’s lockers support parcel collection using PIN codes or QR codes, while its Venipak Fast platform allows private customers to calculate shipping costs and arrange deliveries online.
Delivery speed is an important part of Venipak’s marketing. The company states that, on average, 98% of shipments are delivered on the next working day after being handed over, although this is a company-reported performance figure rather than an independently verified guarantee.
Customers should also pay attention to collection deadlines. Venipak states that parcels normally remain available in lockers for three to five calendar days, with the exact deadline provided in the SMS or email notification.
Venipak has also been expanding its Baltic operations. In August 2026, the company reported access to approximately 1,000 lockers across the Baltic states, including around 200 available through a partnership with the shared locker network uDrop.
Best suited for: Online retailers, courier deliveries, business logistics and customers who want several shipment options.
SmartPosti , previously known as Smartpost Itella, officially adopted its new name in Latvia in February 2025. The company belongs to Finland’s Posti Group and operates parcel delivery services across the Baltic region and beyond.
What makes SmartPosti different is its focus on indoor parcel lockers. Rather than placing its own machines outside in changing weather conditions, the company installs them inside supermarkets, shopping centres and other buildings.
This can be particularly useful when ordering cosmetics, electronics, books or other products that may be affected by excessive heat, moisture or cold. However, indoor storage does not automatically mean temperature-controlled medical storage, and customers should always check product requirements.
There is one practical limitation: many indoor lockers can only be accessed during the building’s opening hours. Selected SmartPosti locations offer 24-hour access, but it’s worth checking the specific location before choosing delivery.
SmartPosti’s published domestic parcel prices, effective July 15, 2026, start at €2.50 for XS parcels and reach €5.79 for XL parcels.
The company is also working to expand its network through uDrop.
The partner network will also enable us to reach more remote regions where we currently do not have our own parcel lockers
Guntis Mičuļs, SmartPosti’s Head of Operations in the Baltics
Best suited for: Weather-sensitive items, customers who prefer indoor collection points and shipments connected to Finland and the Baltic countries.
Unisend is one of the newer parcel locker brands in Latvia, having expanded into the Latvian and Estonian markets in 2024. The service is operated by Lithuania’s national postal company, Lietuvos paštas, and focuses heavily on parcel deliveries across the Baltic region.
Although Unisend has been operating in Latvia for a shorter period than some competitors, its market presence has grown. According to SPRK, Unisend accounted for approximately 11% of Latvia’s registered parcel lockers and 12% of locker-delivered shipments in 2025.
One of the company’s biggest developments came in August 2026, when it opened a new logistics centre in Riga’s Dreiliņi area. The facility covers 4,532 square metres and represents an investment of nearly €2 million.
Unisend also announced plans to install sorting equipment capable of processing up to 60,000 shipments daily. That figure represents planned processing capacity rather than a confirmed volume already being handled.
Our long-term commitment to the Latvian market
Jānis Ronis, CEO, Unisend Latvija
Unisend is particularly interesting for people and businesses sending packages between Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. Its continuing investment also gives customers another option in an increasingly competitive delivery market.
Best suited for: Baltic shipments, customers seeking alternative locker networks and online businesses serving multiple Baltic countries.

There isn’t one provider that will be the cheapest, fastest or most convenient for every shipment. The right choice depends on where you live, where the parcel is going, its size and how much time the recipient has to collect it.
Here’s a quick comparison based on published services and network characteristics, rather than independent delivery-performance testing:
| Provider | Main advantage | Worth considering for |
|---|---|---|
| Omniva | High shipment volume and broad availability | Everyday deliveries and Baltic shipping |
| Latvijas Pasts | Largest individual locker network at end-2025 | Affordable domestic shipments |
| DPD Latvija | Extensive European Pickup network | International packages |
| Venipak Latvija | Locker, courier and business services | E-commerce logistics |
| SmartPosti | Indoor parcel lockers | Weather-sensitive goods |
| Unisend | Baltic-focused network and investment | Deliveries between Baltic countries |
Before choosing a provider, a few practical checks can save time and money:
For occasional domestic deliveries, convenience may matter more than saving a few cents. For a small business sending dozens of parcels each week, however, delivery prices, return services and pickup schedules become much more important.
Latvia’s parcel locker market is no longer just about adding more machines outside supermarkets. Providers are experimenting with different locker sizes, shared infrastructure, flexible collection periods and more efficient sorting systems.
Some changes are already confirmed. Omniva introduced a four-day standard storage period in May 2026, while its September Omniva Flex pilot offered six hours of storage at prices starting from €1.25 through selected online retailers. This was a limited trial, not a standard delivery price available everywhere.
Other changes remain announced plans. SmartPosti stated on October 6, 2026, that selected outdoor uDrop locations would begin appearing in participating online stores’ delivery menus from November 1, expanding collection options in places where SmartPosti has fewer nearby lockers.
My assessment is that shared locker networks could become particularly valuable in smaller Latvian towns. Instead of several delivery companies installing separate machines with limited daily usage, shared infrastructure could make parcel collection more accessible while reducing duplicated equipment.
There are challenges, of course. Lockers can fill up during peak shopping periods, rural routes remain expensive to operate, and customers increasingly expect fast delivery at very low prices. Companies must also balance convenience with enough collection time to prevent parcels from being returned unnecessarily.
My prediction is that customers will see more delivery options based on speed, storage time and locker location, although the exact pace of these changes remains uncertain. The most successful providers may be those that make parcel delivery feel less like a separate task and more like something that fits naturally into people’s daily routines.
And perhaps that’s what matters most. Whether you’re collecting a new pair of shoes in Riga, sending a gift to Lithuania or picking up an online order from a small village locker in Ance, the best parcel delivery service is the one that makes the whole process easy enough to barely think about.
